CHAPTER 09 HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT
With the rapid expansion of the business, we require more man-forces to fulfill the vacant positions, and plan for the future in the terms of human resource needs. It involves with bringing new people into the organization and then making sure that they serve as valuable additions to the work force. The staffing consists of four stages: recruiting, selection and hiring, placement, and training and development.
I- Recruiting:
Recruiting refers to all activities involved in finding applicants for a job opening. The job applicant can be found from newspaper, advertisement, referrals, private employment agency, public employment agency, educational institutions, labor union and realistic job preview.
II- Selection and Hiring:
The role of selection and hiring is to evaluate each candidate and to pick the best one for the position available.
III- Placement:
Placement means fitting people and job together. It includes everything from helping new employees feel at home in the firm to promote them to positions of great pay and responsibility to demoting them less desirable position when necessary.
IV- Training and Development:
The training of employees and the development of these careers and expertise have many advantages for the firms; it is helping the firm to meet its immediate human resource need. On long run, it, however, ensures that the firmˇ¦s employees are ready to meet the future challenges. A wide range of approaches to training and development have been devised, some approaches have met with notable success.
The Main Factions of Human Resource Management:
1- Organizational Development:
Maintaining an organizational and job structure that promotes optimal, managerial and operational performance, enabling the organization to adopt effectively to charge.
2- Employee Resource:
Anticipating future demands and supplies for all types of staff, recruitment.
3- Training and Management:
The appropriate levels and types of reward for employees to meet staffing needs and achieve optimum performance.
4- Top Level Leaders:
We, at first, should be aware the average of the leadersˇ¦ age, education, resource, salary, the capacity of management, reputation and social relationship.
5- The Staffs of Management:
We should realize the percentage of management staffs and total employees and workers. The average age of management staffs, resource, education, salary, working capacity, health, thought and social activities.
6- Technicians and Engineers:
In order to improve the technical management, we must be aware that the percentage among the engineers, technicians and total workers including skilled and unskilled workers, the average age, specialty, education and salary. The percentage between the research technicians and technicians in development, carrying out the awards and punishment policyˇK etc.
7- Skilled and Unskilled Workers:
To manage the factory smoothly, we have to know the percentage between the skilled and unskilled workers, sex, the average of education, salary and health, work study, promotion and punishment in accordance with the working capacity.
